Job Summary
Hangar 13 is seeking an experienced Narrative Director to lead our Narrative team and collaborate across disciplines to craft compelling stories, memorable characters, and engaging content for our upcoming projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Game Director to develop the core story and establish the narrative vision.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to the writing team, offering constructive feedback and ensuring high-quality output.
- Translate the game’s story into detailed narrative briefs for designers, artists, and cinematic editors.
- Ensure all narrative content aligns with the project’s creative vision and adheres to established franchise pillars.
- Establish quality benchmarks and development guidelines for writers and narrative designers.
- Mentor and manage the performance of the writing team and narrative designers, encouraging growth and development.
- Work with production to set goals and plan the narrative team’s workflow effectively.
- Lead casting efforts and direct voice-over (VO) and performance capture sessions as needed.
- Participate in interviewing and hiring decisions for writers and narrative designers.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of narrative and cinematic tools.

Essential Skills, Attributes and Experience
- Experience:
- Credit on at least two shipped titles as a Narrative Director, Lead Writer, or Lead Narrative Designer, with a minimum of 10 years in game development.
- Proven expertise in story development and authorship of compelling game narratives.
- Writing Skills:
- Strong dialogue writing abilities, with the capacity to critique and edit work effectively.
- Experience with writing tools and pipelines for creating narrative content.
- Leadership & Collaboration:
- Robust leadership experience with a proven ability to manage and inspire a team of writers and narrative designers.
- Provide mentorship and professional development support to team members.
- Collaborate effectively with other discipline directors and contribute to overall project leadership.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate across multiple locations with ease.
- Production Skills:
- Hands-on experience working with actors and directing motion capture (mocap) and voice-over (VO) sessions.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- A passion for crafting provocative, mature drama is a strong plus.
- Experience working with established intellectual properties (IP) is highly desirable.
