The RoleWe’re hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a full-time (40 hrs/week), remote position with long-term potential.
You’ll take ownership of Hubstaff’s marketing site frontend architecture - built with Astro, Vue 3, and Payload CMS - ensuring it remains performant, maintainable, and delightful to use.
You’ll work closely with our Engineering Manager, designers, and backend developers to evolve our design system, improve content workflows, and deliver seamless, high-performing user experiences.

What You’ll DoOwn and evolve the frontend architecture of our Astro + Vue 3 website.
Collaborate with designers and backend developers to translate UI/UX concepts into maintainable, accessible, and responsive code.
Extend and refine our integrations with Payload CMS and other self-hosted headless CMS platforms, defining reusable content structures and dynamic components.
Implement performant, SEO-friendly static rendering strategies using Astro’s hybrid rendering model.
Continuously improve site performance (Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse scores, caching strategies).
Support and maintain our self-hosted WordPress resources, ensuring reliability, security, and seamless integration with the broader site ecosystem.
Coordinate updates and integrations between WordPress and our static site infrastructure when needed.
Document and maintain developer and content-editor workflows for consistent implementation.
Introduce and maintain automated frontend testing and CI/CD improvements.
Stay up to date with frontend best practices, accessibility, and emerging frameworks.
5+ years of professional frontend development experience, with at least 2+ years working with Vue.js or similar component-based frameworks (React, Svelte).
Proven experience with static site generators (Astro, Nuxt, Next, etc.) and self-hosted headless CMS integrations (Payload CMS or similar).
Expert-level understanding of HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
Strong understanding of performance optimization, responsive design, and accessibility.
Deep experience with Git-based workflows and collaborative development.
Solid understanding of component-driven design and maintainable architecture.
Experience working asynchronously in fully remote teams.
A history of multi-year tenure in recent roles.
Experience with Ruby on Rails, particularly integrating frontend layers with Rails-based systems.
Familiarity with managed headless CMS platforms such as Storyblok, Contentful, or Sanity.
Experience with Payload CMS plugin development or API customization.
Knowledge of analytics, A/B testing, or feature-flag systems (e.g., Statsig, Segment, Posthog).
Experience supporting and maintaining self-managed WordPress environments is a plus.
An eye for design systems, motion design (e.g., Anime.js), and UI consistency.
