The Role

The Management Accountant plays a critical role in the preparation of the month end management accounts and subsequent reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and a keen eye for detail. Whilst the role will primarily focused be on traditional management accountant responsibilities, there is scope to be involved with projects across the wider team to support the continual development of processes & controls.

What you will be doing

  • Month end accounting processes - ownership of all month end processes, with responsibility for key judgements and determinations to enable a timely close to the monthly accounts.
  • Month end reporting - produce monthly management accounts reporting with variance analysis to budgets/forecasts and support the production of the monthly group reporting pack.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations - responsibility for approving monthly balance sheet reconciliations and providing commentary on key movements.
  • Transactional oversight - ensure that the transactional processes comply with group financial controls and all transactional inputs are correct.
  • Year-end responsibilities - liaise with external auditors to support the year-end audit, responding to queries in a timely manner to ensure a smooth year end audit process.
  • Budgeting and forecasts - support the annual budget & quarterly forecasting process and ensure that forecasting system is updated with latest inputs.
  • Process improvement - continually seek to improve processes and systems to support commercial and financial objectives.
  • Finance Team development - involvement in Finance Team transformation projects to continually improve processes, controls and reporting.
  • Support Finance Business Partners and Outsourced Finance Operations Team - provide transactional and reporting support to deliver insight and challenge business performance.

What we would like to see from your application

  • Education - qualified (or part qualified) accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience - working within a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Relationships - proven experience in building strong internal & external relationships.
  • Accounting - technically strong financial and management accounting skills.
  • Modelling - strong modelling and PC skills with proven proficiency in Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Communication - a clear, succinct and articulate oral and written communication style.
