We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join our Africa & Trading Markets Cluster (A&T) team at The Kraft Heinz Company (KHC). As a key member of our legal team, you will report to the Head of Legal - Africa & Trading Markets and play a vital role in shaping and implementing our legal strategy across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management
- Support on contract drafting, negotiation and review across a range of products, goods and services including inbound procurement and outbound supply services.
- Support the implementation of an effective distribution contract portfolio management.
- Provide a range of standard templates, processes, tools and trackers to standardize processes within the A&T business and improve existing legal processes as required to enhance the transparency and turnover timelines.
Marketing and IP
- Advise and support on advertising and marketing law matters, including competitive product claims, packaging materials, media copy and advertising materials clearance for KHC's range of products.
- Review marketing materials content, data, claims, etc. (including artwork, POSM, TVC, digital, comms, etc.) and work closely with the Marketing and Regulatory departments to ensure a timely and risk-managed approach.
- Review marketing campaigns, sales initiatives, sponsorship, promotional strategies, and permissions - where required.
- Provide local legal support to the Global Brand Protection Team.
- Assist in IP Enforcement and Anti-counterfeit matters.
Company Secretarial
- Support company secretarial matters and meetings (OGSMs, EGMs, Board of Directors' meetings).
- Ensure corporate secretarial compliance in the cluster, and mainly where KHC has a local presence
- Support company secretarial liaison with global company secretary function.
- Manage corporate certifications and registrations (e.g. licenses, permits, registrations, etc.)
- Support in maintaining up-to-date records and publishing updates in timely manner across company systems (e.g. Diligent, Simple Legal, etc.)
Compliance
- Assist (where applicable) in any internal compliance audits.
- Advise and support data privacy-related compliance matters.
- Support the legal trainings yearly agenda.
Dispute resolution
- Advise and assist in any pre-litigation disputes and provide legal support in the resolutions of claims.
- Manage timely and accurate litigation reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Law.
- 5-8 years post qualification experience.
- Fluent in Arabic and English.
- Comfortable with change and able to adjust quickly to new situations or challenges.
- Strong analytical skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Awareness and appreciation of cultural differences, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues, partners, and clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Research abilities and effective planning.
