Lead a frontend team while writing production code and owning technical direction, shared UI platform architecture, application templates, code quality, Scrum processes, and frontend delivery infrastructure. Build and maintain React and TypeScript applications deployed through CloudFront and Lambda@Edge. Represent frontend in architecture discussions and oversee releases, caching, CDN infrastructure, technical debt, and team development.
We are looking for a Lead Frontend Engineer for UI CORE, one of three frontend teams at net2phone. The team owns the web side of our cloud communications product: the main web app, the admin console, the supervisor and receptionist consoles, the call queues wallboard, the dialer, and the shared UI platform packages underneath them.
This is a hands-on lead role. You will write code, own technical decisions, and lead a team of three mid-level engineers, one senior engineer and two QA engineers.
Stack: React, TypeScript, micro-frontends, AWS (CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, S3), GitHub Actions, Jira, Scrum.
What you will own:
- Technical direction for the team's applications and the shared UI platform.
- Delivery to production. Our apps ship to ten production pods through CloudFront and Lambda@Edge with a service-worker entrypoint and a versioned CDN. Frontend delivery here is real infrastructure work, not a build step.
- The team's application template, which every new app in the organisation starts from.
- Code review standards, technical debt, and the quality bar.
- The team's scrum process.
- Representing frontend in architecture discussions with backend, platform and product leads.
What we are looking for:
- Experience leading a small distributed frontend team, including growing engineers. Not only mentoring: owning what the team builds and how.
- Strong React. We are finishing a large migration from Angular, so you have seen legacy and greenfield in one codebase.
- You have owned frontend delivery to production, not just components: builds, caching, CDN, releases, and what happens when a release breaks in production.
- AI-assisted development as daily practice. The team already works this way, with agentic tooling on our own codebases. You should be at least at their level.
- Comfortable running scrum for your team.
- English B1 or above. The team works in Russian, product and stakeholders in English.
Nice to have:
- Micro-frontends.
- AWS at the level a frontend owner needs: CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, S3, CloudWatch.
