The Role

To support Howden Re (including its international network excluding Legacy Tiger Risk) to help continually improve financial performance and decision-making through reporting, analysis and planning.  The role will support the Finance Director and Finance Business Partners to report and analyse results across its UK & International offices. Ensure appropriate business reporting functions are set up allowing each Business Unit to measure their Key Financial Performance Indicators and satisfy their statutory and regulatory reporting responsibilities with regards to financial data. Ensure that all responsibilities are completed in accordance with Company policies.

What you’ll do 

  • Provide high quality and timely advice, information, analysis, reporting and interpretation to support effective decision making and performance management.

  • Lead in maintenance of team structures and systems.

  • Develop an understanding of the business, and support reporting to each team.

  • Understand the drivers of business performance, identifying trends, and areas of opportunity.

  • Production of finance packs with commentary.

  • Support the improvement of management reporting and analysis.

  • Help to maintain and improve financial reporting IT systems.

  • Understand the current business processes and assist in the development of systems and procedures to ensure strong financial controls are run across relevant business units within Howden UK.

  • Support senior managers to deliver group objectives.

  • Maintain effective relationships across the Howden Group’s finance function.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Company policies and procedures.

  • To obtain appropriate approvals to ensure compliance with Company policy, procedures and regulatory rules and requirements relating to data protection, money laundering, etc.

  • To consider compliance with FCA requirements at all times.

  • To share ideas, best practice and other information within the team.

  • Ensure that your personal performance and HR records are up to date and meet the Company’s requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records and deal with correspondence appropriately.

Knowledge and Experience required to perform the role

  • Essential

    • Base understanding of finance and finance functions

    • Provision of commercial analysis, and knowledge of management accounting

    • Experience working with Microsoft Office – Excel, Powerpoint, Word

  • Desirable

    • One Stream experience

    • Insurance industry experience
