We are looking for a motivated Junior Lab Support Specialist Engineer to support the maintenance and operation of our lab infrastructure. The role involves assisting with Cisco networking equipment, Proxmox virtualization clusters running on Dell servers, and broadband devices such as FWA units, ONTs, and OLT systems.
This position is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to develop hands-on experience in networking, virtualization, and broadband technologies within a structured lab environment.
Duration: Full-time 8h/day
Location: Hybrid in Athens, Greece (2 days in the office required)
Your responsibilities:
- Assist in configuring and maintaining Cisco switches and basic network setups
- Support the administration of Proxmox virtualization clusters hosted on Dell PowerEdge servers
- Help provision and maintain virtual machines for testing and development
- Assist with setup and basic troubleshooting of broadband devices including FWA, ONTs, and OLT systems
- Perform basic Layer 2 configurations such as VLAN assignments and port configurations
- Support cabling, racking, and physical organization of lab equipment
- Monitor lab systems and report issues to senior engineers
- Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity and hardware issues
- Perform system updates, firmware upgrades, and patching under supervision
- Maintain and update lab documentation and diagrams
- Support engineering and PT teams in preparing test environments
- Follow established procedures for backups and recovery processes
Must have:
- Recent graduates of Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or related field with relevant hands-on experience
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking
- Familiarity with VLANs and switching concepts
- Basic knowledge of Cisco CLI is a plus
- Understanding of IP addressing and subnetting
- Basic understanding of virtualization concepts (VMs, hypervisors)
- Exposure to Proxmox, VMware, or similar platforms is a plus
- Basic understanding of server hardware components
Nice to have:
- Basic Linux command-line knowledge
- Familiarity with Windows environments
- Familiarity with system administration, system configuration, and system debugging experience.
- Basic understanding of broadband concepts (GPON, FWA, Beacon)
- Basic scripting knowledge (Bash or Python)
- Internship or lab experience in networking or telecom
- Understanding of basic troubleshooting methodology
- Strong willingness to learn
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow procedures and documentation
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work under guidance from senior engineers
