Position Summary

Samsung AI Centre (SAIC) Cambridge was officially opened in 2018 as part of Samsung’s commitment to strengthen the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and explore the potential user-centric AI. The centre explores the capabilities of diverse and human-centred AI, realising its near exponential possibilities and help make people’s lives easier.
Purpose of the Role:
We are looking for a professional and experienced People (HR) Generalist to join our team. You will be responsible for providing a professional and comprehensive HR support service covering the end to end employee lifecycle. This is a hands-on role for a HR Generalist who has a passion for and experience in technology organisations. You will work closely with the Head of the AI Centre and Lead Professors, helping them understand and effectively implement policies, procedures and best practice, ensuring a consistent approach across the group.
To be successful in this role you will need to apply a calm and professional approach in a fast-paced environment where priorities change frequently. You will need strong organisational and project management skills.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage the full HR cycle, including but not limited to managing onboarding, flexible work requests, Maternity, Paternity and Adoption requests

  • Implement all required administration, policies, procedures and communication for the employee lifecycle, including accurate and timely maintenance of all HR Systems and records

  • Liaise with senior stakeholders, providing guidance on a variety of HR issues

  • Supporting managers, team leaders and employees on HR policies and practices

  • Work with the HR Business Partner to support operational activity

  • Support line managers to develop knowledge and good performance management practice

  • Maintaining an awareness of current HR legislation and employment law

  • Promoting positive workplace Employee Relations and resolving issues when they arise

  • Contribute to and support the alignment of activities, practices and policies by providing local input and support in the delivery and implementation of key HR projects

Skills and Qualifications

Key Skills Required:

  • HR Generalist or Senior HR Advisor experienced in a commercial HR Department, with an understanding of local employment law and best practice

  • Experience in IT / high-tech industries

  • Must have strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Good analytical and creative thinking skills, a proven ability to think laterally to solve problems and to communicate ideas well

  • A very high level of presentation, communication and planning skills

  • Experience working in a highly demanding team environment with the ability to balance conflicting  deadlines and priorities

  • Evidences a collaborative approach, working well with a broad group of colleagues

  • Highly motivated, deadline focused with the ability to consistently maintain high level of accuracy

  • Ability to learn and implement Samsung Electronics corporate business philosophies

  • Knowledge of immigration and visa requirements

  • Commercially and practically minded with a hands-on approach

  • Ability to multitask and address inter departmental business needs in a timely fashion

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and on own initiative as required, but contribute to a team ethos

  • Resilient and able to work under pressure in a busy environment

  • Strong computer literacy skills, being proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Given our current business requirements, the following qualities/experience are critical at present and therefore highly preferred:

  • CIPD qualified, ideally  Level 5

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

  • Immediately available

Contract Type: Permanent

Job Location: Cambridge (town centre), UK

Hybrid Working: Standard working week will be 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home if preferred
