You will work closely with design partners, construction teams, supply chain partners, client representatives, and Rail Systems Alliance members to ensure the successful integration of rail systems and track infrastructure.

Cable Management System (CMS)

  • Lead the day-to-day coordination of the track side Cable Management System design across the HS2 Track Infrastructure Contract.
  • Manage CMS design interfaces with permanent works, temporary works, rail systems, civil engineering disciplines, and construction activities.
  • Coordinate design development activities, including the review of drawings, specifications, technical submissions, and design deliverables.
  • Work closely with designers, suppliers, construction teams, and client stakeholders to deliver compliant and buildable solutions.
  • Track design progress and ensure deliverables are completed in line with programme requirements.
  • Support technical assurance activities throughout the design, construction, and handover phases.
  • Ensure CMS designs comply with client standards, industry regulations, and CDM requirements.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, opportunities, and design changes.

Ballastless Track Design

  • Support the management and coordination of HS2 ballastless track design, including standard slab track systems, switches and crossing and REDs.
  • Assist the Track Design Lead in managing design interfaces between track, rail systems, and civil infrastructure.
  • Coordinate technical reviews and support the resolution of track design issues.
  • Participate in design and construction meetings, providing technical input and support.
  • Review track monitoring reports, certifications, and technical documentation.
  • Assist with design optimisation studies, value engineering initiatives, and innovation opportunities.
  • Support the management of track-related technical queries, departures, NCRs, compensation events, and other commercial or contractual matters.

Stakeholder & Project Coordination

  • Maintain strong working relationships with designers, contractors, suppliers, and client representatives.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary meetings and ensure actions are effectively managed through to completion.
  • Support programme delivery by ensuring design outputs align with construction requirements.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, sustainability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within the railway industry
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary railway infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of railway systems integration and interface management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple technical interfaces and work collaboratively across project teams.
  • Proactive, organised, and willing to take ownership of technical deliverables.

Desirable

  • Experience within track, rail systems, MEP, or cable management design.
  • Knowledge of ballastless track systems and high-speed railway infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Network Rail, HS2, or international railway design standards.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the ICE, PWI, IMechE, or equivalent professional institution.
  • Experience supporting design assurance and construction delivery activities on major infrastructure projects.
  • Passion for innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement within the rail sector.
