Shift is enabling the insurance industry to radically improve the customer experience and transform insurer's decision making in claims processing, underwriting, compliance and more, through a suite of sophisticated AI-based products.

As the Head of Technical Product Management, you will be directly responsible for the overall functional design of the products and modules, and the prioritization of the company’s R&D roadmap. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, and partnering with our Software Engineering team, you and your team of Technical Product Managers will define and design scalable and flexible products to solve real problems for top tier insurance carriers around the world.  

This position is based in Paris.  Ideally you are located in or near the Paris office and willing to be on site regularly. However, we are open to considering candidates from other locations or those willing to relocate.

What you’ll do…

Make It Happen:

  • Lead the work on the functional architecture and design of our products, managing your team on certain scopes, individually contributing on others, to have best in class requirements produced.
  • Ensure the backlog is best prioritized, coordinating with product ops and CPO, to fit with the company’s strategy and key client dates.
  • Work with engineering leadership to optimize R&D investment and build the roadmap

Manage a Team (6 people), Coordinate an R&D organization (~100 people)

  • Guide and empower our Technical Product Management team of 5 to make the best technical decisions in support of Shift's product vision.
  • Create a team environment where high quality work, personal accountability, resilience, #MakeItHappen attitude, and collaboration are expected.
  • Share the functional vision and roadmap with the R&D organization

  • Understand complexities and subtleties of insurance, through the multiple use cases, lines of businesses and geographies tackled by the company.

  • Drive alignment and efficiency of the 100+ strong R&D organisation, partnering closely with Software Engineering leadership.
  • Collaborate with our Go To Market and Delivery teams to present product capabilities and roadmaps

What you bring…

At Shift, we look for talented people who want to contribute to build the future of the company and make a big impact on the insurance carriers and their customers. We are looking for someone with significant technical and product management experience, ready for their next big challenge. 

  • 15+ years of experience in product management or related activities
  • 4+ years of experience of leading the product work for a complex platform of highly technical products
  • 6+ years leading and managing teams of product managers
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate across all functions and levels to build consensus without formal authority
  • Strong command of English (fluency in French or additional languages are welcome)
  • Significant bonus: knowledge of the insurance industry or similar regulated industry
