Job Description

We are looking for a candidate ready to leverage their experience in supporting a fast growing global product to achieve the highest standards in fighting financial crime by meeting our associated regulatory obligations and expectations. This is an exciting, hands-on opportunity working directly with product managers, analysts and engineers to help scale our Wise Platform product offering. The individual should be an expert on anti- financial crime on BaaS and/or Correspondent Banking offerings. 


Your mission: 

Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. We now need support to scale our Wise Platform product offering in a compliant and structured way across all of our markets. Your first responsibility will be to establish a vision to combat financial crime reflecting on local regulatory expectations and financial crime risk. You will be expected to guide the wider Wise Platform Product Risk and Compliance team to ensure we achieve your vision.  


Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Wise Platform Product Compliance team, in the first line: 

  • Perform regulatory analysis to ensure the Global Partner Onboarding program is adequate and compliant and drive its implementation across 1LOD operations teams

  • Develop a global monitoring program to understand the risks that our Partners, their customers and transactional activity to present to Wise wherever they may be

  • Implement processes to consistently take decisions on exceptions during the Onboarding process and monitor these exceptions across all partners and markets

  • Engage with Partners when standards vary from those expected, including those in situations where adverse media is identified

  • Offer effective advice to Product Managers and our Onboarding operations teams on existing and forthcoming Regulations, gaps, and risks and coach those in your team to do the same 

  • Scale existing transaction monitoring controls program to ensure our Wise Platform compliance controls continue to be effective across our Correspondent Services product offering

  • Design scalable processes and controls that allow for members of the Wise Platform fincrime product compliance team to best support new products

  • Communicate with bank partners and regulators about our product offering and associated financial crime controls across our markets


This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Keep compliance right at the heart of the product development cycle, in a fast-moving environment;

  • Be empowered to identify ‘regulatory problems’ and take a lead in the solution design and implementation; 

Qualifications

About you: 

  • You have a background in BaaS or Correspondent Banking anti- financial crime

  • You have experience scaling financial crime controls across a number of markets with particular experience in the UK, EU and US markets

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them effectively;

  • Ability to grow and scale teams to support a rapidly expanding product offering

  • Problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulations together with data to drive business decisions; 

  • Experience (or interest) in working in a fast-growing environment and working directly with product teams; 

  • Willing to travel, as Wise offices are located across different countries; and

  • Legally authorized to work in the UK
