Head of Data

Remote - Periodic visits to Bupa offices as required.

Permanent role

Competitive salary, plus bonus and car allowance

Full Time – 37.5 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Data to join our Health Service Team. The post holder is responsible for driving the overall data strategy, operations, and execution to enhance business insights and decision-making for Health Services. This role provides leadership, direction, and strategic planning for multiple functions, including Data Office, Data Governance, Data Science & AI, and Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Analytics. The Head of Data acts as a strategic partner to the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO), offering insights and recommendations to set direction and ensure alignment across all data-related functions.

This role prioritises data quality and integrity, supporting the overall data strategy and achieving business objectives through effective leadership and strategic planning.

How you’ll help us make health happen:

  • You will provide leadership, direction, and strategic planning for multiple functions, including Data Office, Data Governance, Data Science & AI, and Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Analytics.
  • You will serve as a linchpin between data teams and other business units, ensuring strong business performance.
  • Overseeing the data team, including data scientists, analysts, engineers, and data modellers, to drive data initiatives forward.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security by implementing robust data governance frameworks.
  • You will develop and enforce data policies and standards across the business unit.
  • You will deliver key data projects, including AI use cases and business intelligence initiatives, providing valuable insights and metrics to stakeholders.
  • You will support the CDAO in driving data strategy, collaborating with heads of various departments.
  • You will own the relationship between data initiatives and financial planning to ensure alignment and drive performance through data.
  • You will ensure all data activities prioritise data quality and integrity, supporting the overall data strategy and achieving business objectives.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience in a senior management role.
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills to drive data initiatives and align with business objectives.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management abilities to ensure alignment and integration of data strategies.
  • Proven expertise in data and business process optimisation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex data challenges and derive actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey data insights and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive innovation and manage change effectively within the data team and across the organisation.
