Seismic is evolving, and we need a Head of Data and AI to build the engine behind our next phase of growth. This is a rare opportunity to be our first tech hire, moving us from a purely service-based model to an asset-driven, AI-integrated organisation. If you have the hands-on experience to implement tangible AI improvements and the passion to use technology as a force for good, you will have the autonomy to shape our technical roadmap from day one.

The role and its responsibilities

This is not a "PowerPoint Strategy" role. We need a Player-Coach—an architect and builder who will define, build, and execute our AI strategy. Reporting directly to the
CEO/Managing Director, you will transition Seismic and automate and drive us toward becoming an AI-enabled powerhouse.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The Strategy: Curating best-in-class tools and integrating them into a seamless Seismic ecosystem, partnering with technology providers where it makes sense.

  • Strategic Unlocks: Deploying Net Zero Scenario Modellers and B Corp Gap Analysis Agents to provide consultants with instant, data-backed insights.

  • Quality & Ethics: Creating ESG Claims Checkers and Tone-of-Voice Guardians to ensure all client output is world-class, compliant, and ethical.

  • Asset-Based Lock-In: Developing proprietary tools that remain embedded in client workflows, shifting our value from "time-spent" to recurring, infrastructure-based impact.

About you

To be successful in this role you would need the following attributes:

  • A Founding Engineer Mindset: Hands-on fluency in the modern AI ecosystem. You can shape data pipelines, model interactions, and agentic workflows into real-world applications.

  • Pragmatic Technology Leadership: You know when to build vs. when to partner, prioritising "Speed to Value" over engineering perfection.

  • Commercial Grit: An understanding of the shift from "Time & Materials" to recurring revenue models.

  • Empathetic Communication: The ability to bridge the gap between complex LLM concepts and sustainability consultants, building tools that empower rather than intimidate.

  • Growth Mindset: Comfort with uncertainty and a desire to own a product roadmap from Day 1.

In your first 100 days you will:

  • Be paired with a dedicated guide and mentor to accelerate your integration and professional development.

  • Go through our onboarding programme with training across all our sustainability services

  • Join our fortnightly Personal Growth sessions and Friday checkout

  • You will begin to transition our AI strategy from theory to execution by deploying tangible automation tools that yield a measurable output.

Location

Ideally you will be within commuting distance of our London office. You will be within commuting distance of our London office, attending the office (Waterloo) at least twice per week.

Working hours

We believe in flexible working hours to better suit our personal lives while being considerate of each other and our clients. We generally work office hours but trust each other to make fair decisions. We are also open to discussing part-time work arrangements.
