Job Description

Are you an accomplished finance leader looking to shape the strategic direction of a growing renewable energy business? This is an opportunity to lead a critical function at the heart of EDF power solutions UK & Ireland, driving financial excellence, governance and transformation while supporting ambitious growth plans.

At EDF power solutions, we're shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. As we continue to expand our renewable energy portfolio and invest in the transition to net zero, Finance plays a pivotal role in enabling sustainable growth, informed decision-making and long-term value creation.

As our Group Financial Controller, you will be a key member of the Finance leadership team and a trusted partner to the Chief Financial Officer, Executive Team and shareholders. Leading the central Financial Control function, you will provide strategic financial leadership across the business, ensuring robust governance, high-quality reporting and financial insight that supports business performance and future growth.

The Opportunity

As Group Financial Controller, you will have overall accountability for financial reporting, statutory compliance, financial control, consolidation and planning processes across EDF power solutions UK & Ireland. Operating at the highest levels of the organisation, you will work closely with Executive leaders, Business Unit Finance teams, shareholders and external auditors, influencing key business decisions and supporting the delivery of our strategic objectives.

This is also a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our Finance function. As the business continues to grow in scale and complexity, you will lead the evolution of financial systems, controls and reporting frameworks, driving continuous improvement and strengthening governance across the organisation.

You will play a key role in building a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and professional development, while ensuring Finance remains equipped to support the business's long-term ambitions.

Alongside a competitive salary, annual bonus opportunity and market-leading benefits package, you'll benefit from our Flexible First approach to work. This role can be based from our offices in Edinburgh, Durham or London, with hybrid working arrangements that support both collaboration and flexibility.

Why EDF power solutions?

With technologies spanning onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and green hydrogen, we’re the UK & Ireland’s most diverse renewable generator. By 2035, we aim to deliver 10GW of low-carbon energy – and we’d love you to help us get there.

Who You Are

We are looking for an exceptional finance leader with a proven track record of operating in complex, growth-oriented organisations. Combining outstanding technical expertise with strategic insight and commercial judgement, you will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, strengthening governance and supporting key business decisions across EDF power solutions UK & Ireland.

To be shortlisted, you need to offer…

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant experience leading financial control, consolidation, reporting and governance within a complex, multi-entity organisation.
  • Deep technical expertise in UK GAAP, IFRS, statutory reporting and external audit management, with the ability to navigate complex accounting matters and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Proven finance leader with a strong track record of influencing Executive stakeholders, leading high-performing teams and partnering the business to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Experience delivering finance transformation, systems enhancement and process improvement initiatives, ideally within a regulated, infrastructure, energy or other capital-intensive environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the Group Financial Control function, ensuring best-in-class financial reporting, governance, compliance and control across EDF power solutions UK & Ireland.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO, Executive Team and shareholders, providing financial leadership, insight and challenge to support strategic decision-making and business performance.
  • Oversee Group consolidation, shareholder reporting, statutory accounts and external audit activities, ensuring accurate, transparent and compliant financial reporting.
  • Drive finance transformation and continuous improvement, strengthening systems, processes and capability while developing a high-performing team and robust control environment to support future growth

Pay, Benefits and Culture

If you’re looking to join a company where you can work hard, have fun, and help to create a net zero future – then you’re in the right place! If you’re passionate about tackling climate change to support a cleaner, greener future, we’d love you to come and join us.

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, our employee benefits include flexible benefits tailored to your lifestyle – from electric vehicle leasing and private healthcare to extra holiday and more.

Everyone is welcome at EDF power solutions; we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities.
