About this role
About the team:
BlackRock Global Markets and Index Investments (BGM) bring together BlackRock’s index equity, index fixed income, global trading, securities lending, cash management, ETF markets, and financing and financial resource management businesses to deliver investment, trading, financing and risk management excellence for clients every minute of every day.
The Securities Lending business at BlackRock provides both incremental alpha to BlackRock’s clients and direct revenue to the firm, with an estimated $3 Billion in gross revenue, with over $700 Million in direct revenue to BlackRock. This business is run by BGM (BlackRock Global Markets) and operations supported by GIO (Global Investment Operations) orgs. There are more than 150 users globally using the SecLending Technology Platform to manage the SecLending Lifecycle. With more than 90% of trades executed through Automated Trading and approximately 140 orders processed per second, Securities Lending systems operate as highavailability and lowlatency platforms.
Securities Lending, often referred to as "SecLending" is a financial transaction where securities are temporarily transferred from one party (Prime Brokers etc.) to another. The lender retains ownership of the securities and agrees to lend them to a borrower for a fee, under the condition that the borrower will return the securities at a later date, either on demand or at the end of the lending agreement.
Job Overview:
For Securities Lending to remain market leading, we are not only transforming the capabilities we offer to our clients but also invest in the re-architecture and modernization of the underlying platform and infrastructure. We must evolve Aladdin’s Sec Lending technology delivering a resilient, AI enabled, API-first platform that enables business growth, scale and automation, operational efficiency, and data driven decision making, while positioning Sec Lending technology as a commercial-grade product. This architectural evolution will be delivered incrementally while also continuing to deliver business value and execute on roadmap commitments. Securities Lending Engineering is part of Aladdin Engineering team.

Complexity of the Securities Lending business may require “cross-squad” partnership in designing and implementing solutions, which is managed through the agile PI process and architecture reviews.
The Securities Lending Inventory management system is the backbone of the Securities Lending business, and all workflows have a hard dependency on it.
