Panametrics is looking for an Embedded Software/Firmware Development Engineer with proven C/C++ experience to join our global Technology team. In this role, you will work closely with our Electronics design teams, manufacturing and services team to design next generation industrial sensing products. You will be a key player and active participant in full software development life cycle.
 

As a Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing software/ firmware, perform validation, and maintenance of industrial grade embedded systems

  • Evaluating system level requirements by brainstorming with Product Specialists, Product Managers, and other peers throughout the organisation

  • Performing cross platform development of C/C++ code while maintaining code quality through best practices and code quality automation

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor’s (minimum) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited establishment.

  • Have proven experience with developing embedded C/C++ applications for ARM targets.

  • Have hands-on experience with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS / Micrium (preferred).

  • Have hands-on experience with tools like Git, SVN.

  • Be proficient in using software/hardware debugging techniques.

  • Be capable of concise and effective written and verbal communication.

  • Have practical experience with design of industrial products.

  • Have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to perform in a team environment, across functions, and with customer and suppliers.

  • Be fluent in English and eligible to work in Ireland, holding an Irish passport/work permit with no requirement for future sponsorship.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with real-time implementation of Signal Processing algorithms.

  • Proven experience with STM32.

  • Experience using CubeMX.

  • Experience with the IAR’s Embedded Workbench IDE.

  • Familiarity with bus protocols including RS232, RS485, Modbus, I2C and SPI.

  • Experience working directly with external vendor(s) to integrate and troubleshoot issues with chips and drivers.

  • Familiarity with reading electrical schematic and PCB layout designs.

  • Familiarity with hardware debugging at board level using oscilloscope, bus analysers, digital multimeters, etc.

In this role, we can offer the following working pattern:

  • Monday – Friday 0900-1700hrs, 37.5 hours per week on site

  • Working hybrid offered upon completion of probation (3 days on site/2 days remote)
