Finance Service Manager
£60,000 to £65,000 plus excellent benefits (Work Level 5)
Manchester city centre (hybrid working between home and two days per week in the office https://jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy)

We’re looking for a Finance Services Manager to join the Record to Report team within our wider Co-op Business Services (CBS) organisation. CBS is made up of a number of diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective business services across our Co-op. You’ll play a key role in helping CBS to support and realise our group vision of ‘co-operating to build more value for member owners every day’.

In this role, you’ll provide clear and robust financial analysis and insight to influence decision-making across the business area(s) you support. We’ll look to you to make sure our teams understand the impacts of their financial performance (e.g., balance sheets, profit and loss) and the risks and opportunities these present.

Why this role matters

To make sure we’re always making the best decisions for our Co-op, we need clear, meaningful financial insight to guide our plans and set us up for success. That’s where you come in.

You’ll play a big role in bringing our numbers to life: turning data into insight, and insight into action. By helping us understand our performance and where we can improve, you’ll support smarter decisions that make a genuine difference across our Co-op.

What you’ll do

  • Build a deep understanding of the business area(s) you support, and their financial performance, to help you make effective recommendations
  • Reconcile balance sheet statements and analyse profit and loss performance, making sure these are reflected and accounted for in our budgeting and forecasting
  • Spot key financial performance trends and issues and provide solution recommendations to senior colleagues
  • Collaborate closely with senior leaders and finance business partners, helping them to make more well-informed decisions
  • Line manage our Record to Report team, and support colleagues in their development

What you’ll bring

We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:

  • An accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience using financial analysis and insights to make commercial recommendations
  • Experience owning and successfully delivering key finance projects
  • Knowledge of finance systems and processes (e.g., general ledger and BI tools)
  • The ability to manage multiple, sometimes conflicting, priorities effectively
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge colleagues at a senior leadership level

Why Co-op?

At Co-op, we’re owned by our members. And because we’re owned by you, we can do right by you. So when you join us, you’re not just taking a job, you’re joining a movement. We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:

  • Private healthcare
  • Annual bonus scheme (based on individual and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (pro-rata) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • 30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
  • Stream – early access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • Virtual healthcare including GP appointments, mental health support, nutrition and fitness advice
  • 24/7 colleague support service
  • Training and support for your development and career progression
  • Cycle-to-work scheme

A place you’ll belong

We’re building diverse teams that reflect the communities we serve. We welcome applications from everyone, and our support centre is an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can thrive.

If you have a disability, we’ll make reasonable adjustments to support you through the recruitment process. We’re also proud to be part of the Disability Confident scheme - if you’re disabled and you meet the minimum criteria for this job, we’ll guarantee you an interview.

As part of your application, you'll need to complete an online assessment. This assessment typically takes up to 50 minutes. If you're a current Co-op colleague, this does not need to be completed.
