Description:
We are seeking a talented individual to join our FP&A team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in London. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Finance Business Partner, 1 year FTC
Reporting to the Finance Leader for Health and Career, this role will support Mercer’s Health Business in the UK, working closely with the Senior Business Leaders to provide financial business partnering. This is a 1-year fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
We will count on you to:
- Analytical/reporting responsibilities: perform variance analysis immediately following month-end as part of the control environment; provide Functional Leadership with monthly and YTD analysis of key cost drivers supporting actual vs budget expense variances; includes providing an understanding of run rate expenses, internal/operating company business initiatives as well as cost efficiency initiatives and their impact on the results; review expense allocations and allocation methodologies as appropriate.
- Budgeting/Forecasting: work directly with Functional Leadership on all budgeting/forecasting input, processing, reporting and analytical requirements (both capital and P&L); perform Excel and query-based analyses of financial data; initiate, develop and implement improvements to financial reporting processes; guide and educate finance peers and functions on the use of the global reporting tools.
- Controllership coordination: coordinate with Controllership on the monthly financial close; including coordinating preparation of journal entries (which are processed by Controllership), coordinating on account reconciliations and account analysis; review all general ledger activity related to the function(s) and coordinate and/or provide month end accruals as appropriate.
- Manage and deliver special projects: implement standard reporting metric; partner with finance leadership to assist in the development of an integrated forecasting, budgeting and reporting process; standardize iProcurement financial reporting, capex tracking and service and project spending analysis.
- Business Partner: co-ordinate and manage commercial finance requirements with Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) UK Business Leaders, Heads of Services and Operational Managers, and wider MMC finance members.
What you need to have:
- Full Accountancy qualification or qualified by experience.
- Previous experience within a finance business partnering / FP&A role from within a large matrixed organisation with experience of managing and reporting of P&L.
- Excellent financial analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills with the ability to build business relationships at all levels.
- Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
