Iron Mountain is seeking a vision-driven Senior Design Manager or Design Manager to join our EMEA Design and Construction team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the architectural and engineering delivery of our high-performance data centers, translating complex technical demands into scalable, sustainable infrastructure across the region. Working alongside cross-functional partners and external consultants, you will shape the future of our critical facilities by taking big design concepts and turning them into buildable, high-quality realities. Here, your technical expertise will help drive market-leading standards while ensuring our expansion projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on budget.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
In this role, you will:

  • Lead the end-to-end design process for data center projects by managing third-party consultants to maintain alignment with internal quality standards.
  • Partner with internal construction, finance, sales, and operations teams to validate project scope, design options, budgets, and delivery timelines.
  • Support due diligence and feasibility assessments for potential facility acquisitions alongside external specialist consultants.
  • Provide oversight and technical reporting on key design elements, critical infrastructure, and scheduling activities.
  • Facilitate the procurement of long-lead owner-furnished equipment and assist sales engineering teams with custom customer solutions.

What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in mission-critical design or M&E-led technical industries (e.g., Data Centers, Nuclear, Pharma, Energy, or similar hi-tech sectors).
  • Strong leadership capability within multi-disciplinary design teams across client, consultancy, or contractor environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of complex electrical, mechanical, life safety, and control systems for critical facilities, alongside expertise in national building codes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a strong track record of building collaborative partner and stakeholder relationships.
  • A University Degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification.
