tl;dr: We're looking for an outcome-oriented design leader to join us as a Director of Product Design. You'll lead our high-quality design team and shape a generative AI product with strong PMF. You’ll set us on a path to become a reference for what world-class enterprise product design looks like.

Welcome to the video first world

From your everyday PowerPoint presentations to Hollywood movies, AI will transform the way we create and consume content. Today, people want to watch and listen, not read — both at home and at work.

Despite the clear preference for video, communication and knowledge sharing in the business environment are still dominated by text, largely because high-quality video production remains complex and challenging to scale—until now….

Meet Synthesia

We're on a mission to make video easy for everyone. Born in an AI lab, our AI video communications platform simplifies the entire video production process, making it easy for everyone, regardless of skill level, to create, collaborate, and share high-quality videos. Whether it's for delivering essential training to employees and customers or marketing products and services, Synthesia enables large organizations to communicate and share knowledge through video quickly and efficiently. We’re trusted by leading brands such as Heineken, Zoom, Xerox, McDonald’s and more. Read stories from happy customers and what 1,200+ people say on G2.

In 2023, we were one of 7 European companies to reach unicorn status. In February 2024, G2 named us as the fastest growing company in the world. We’ve raised over $150M in funding from top-tier investors, including Accel, Nvidia, Kleiner Perkins, Google and top founders and operators including Stripe, Datadog, Miro, Webflow, and Facebook.

Right now, we’re looking for a Director of Product Design to spearhead the design direction for our product. We’d look to you to build on our strong foundation and raise the bar, setting us on a path to become a reference in terms of Product Design. Beyond product and design strategy, we’re looking for you to bring a strong view on how a high-impact design team should operate and shape the way we work accordingly

As our Director of Product Design, you’ll:

  • Lead the Design direction of our product and ensure a cohesive and outstanding visual language and user experience.
  • Manage and develop the Design team with an eye for ways of working, skills development, tooling and hiring needs.
  • Work closely with the CPO and other cross functional counterparts on strategy and roadmap.
  • Anticipate and plan for the Design investments that will be necessary to take the product to new heights.
  • Ensure product design is a strategic differentiator and that Synthesia is known for a simple, cohesive, and memorable user experience.
  • Lead a team who are rethinking the paradigm of video creation around the latest advancements in generative AI.
  • Identify opportunities to bring in more of the brand into our Product Design.

You should apply if you bring:

  • Experience leading a high performing product design team working on SaaS web apps or B2C products with a high bar for craft and design.
  • Experience managing and coaching product designers.
  • Strong product opinions and taste - not shying away from proposing solutions based on your intuition and experience.
  • Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and translate it into Design goals and values.
  • Ability to structure the design process and organize a whole team’s work.
  • Proven track record of leading a team who are creating cohesive and useful design and UI.
  • Strong attention to details and eye for what makes great design stand-out.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

At Synthesia we expect everyone to:

  • Be an owner.
  • Focus on outcomes over Inputs and Plans.
  • Make the journey fun.
  • Default to simple.
