What do we do?
Paddle offers digital product companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.
We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 5000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.
The role:

Lead and mentor a group of talented Engineering Managers, fostering a high-performance culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
-
Partner with the Billing Product Leader to define the strategic vision, roadmap, and priorities for Paddle Billing, ensuring alignment with the overall company objectives.
-
Drive engineering excellence across the group, championing best practices, promoting knowledge sharing, and ensuring there is a culture of delivery and accountability.
-
Collaborate effectively with other departments, including Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Finance, to ensure smooth communication, alignment on dependencies, and successful delivery of initiatives.
-
Scale and grow the group by collaborating with Talent and People teams to recruit and onboard new engineers and managers, ensuring the group's structure and headcount align with business needs.
-
Oversee the technical strategy for Paddle Billing, ensuring the development of scalable, reliable, and secure systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
-
Contribute to the overall leadership of the Product & Engineering organisation, playing a key role in shaping the department's engineering principles, practices, and culture.
We'd love to hear from you if:
-
You have a passion for developing people and bring extensive experience leading and mentoring Engineering Managers.
-
You have a proven track record of success in a Director of Engineering role or similar, with experience leading multiple engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
-
You have a deep understanding of software engineering principles, practices, and processes, with experience in building complex, large-scale, cloud-based systems.
-
You have excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across different teams and departments.
-
You are a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of business needs and the ability to translate them into technical solutions.
-
You are passionate about building and scaling high-performing engineering organisations, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
-
You are excited by the opportunity to work on a product that is transforming the way SaaS businesses handle payments.
