We are seeking a Lab Support Specialist Engineer responsible for maintaining, configuring, and supporting our network and virtualization lab infrastructure. The role involves working with Cisco networking equipment, Proxmox virtualization clusters on Dell servers, and broadband access technologies including Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), ONTs, and OLT systems. The role requires effective coordination with IT, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted lab operations. The ideal candidate will ensure the lab environment is stable, scalable, and ready to support engineering, testing, and validation activities.
- Install, configure, and maintain LAB infrastructure including Cisco switches, routers, and network devices
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Proxmox virtualization clusters running on Dell PowerEdge servers
- Provision and maintain virtual machines and virtual networks for testing and development purposes
- Configure and support broadband equipment including Beacons, Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), and Optical Line Terminals (OLTs), and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) devices
- Configure Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking including VLANs, trunking, routing, DHCP, DNS, NAT, and firewall policies
- Troubleshoot network, hardware, virtualization, and connectivity issues across lab infrastructure
- Perform system monitoring, maintenance, updates, and performance optimization
- Support engineering and teams by preparing lab environments and test setups
- Install, rack, cable, and organize lab hardware and infrastructure
- Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures
- Perform backups, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
- Maintain firmware, OS updates, and security patches across lab systems
- Assist in automation of lab tasks using scripting tools where applicable
- Coordinate with IT teams for intranet access, third-party connectivity, and network modifications
- Coordinate with vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted lab operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience with Cisco switches and routers
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols
- Experience with VLANs, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting
- Experience with Proxmox VE or similar virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V)
- Experience working with Dell PowerEdge servers or enterprise hardware
- Understanding of storage concepts (RAID, ZFS, SAN, NAS)
- Linux administration experience (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, etc.)
- Experience with broadband devices such as: Beacon, FWA, ONT, OLT is a plus
- Understanding of GPON or XGS-PON is a plus
- Basic scripting knowledge (Bash, Python, or similar) is a plus
Technical skills & preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with SCM tools like Git and build development.
- Proficiency with Linux OS and its deployment in virtual environments. Docker experience is an asset for host simulation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Delivery), Release automation (e.g., Jenkins), system administration, system configuration, and system debugging experience.
- Strong in planning, communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
- Process-focused with a passion for exploring and working on new technologies.
- Ability to identify improvement opportunities and implement necessary changes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, suitable for a multi-national and multi-site environment.
