What is the point of this role?
As a at ANS, you will be empowered to make wide ranging and impactful technology decisions that both you, and your team deliver against for ANS’ products and services. You will be given the opportunity to work on a wide range of exciting projects, using the latest technologies and advancements, and work in a team of DevOps engineers of varied experience levels.
You will spend your time, creating or updating Automation Pipelines, IaC Templates, Scripting, Coding, Container Orchestration, Config Management, Performance and Reliability Engineering, reviewing peers and your teams work, and contributing to projects in all ways.
What will I be doing?
- Be part of a multi-skilled team of DevOps engineers, with varied skillsets (Automation Pipelines, IaC Templates, Scripting, Coding, Container Orchestration, Config Mangement, Performance and Reliability Engineering, etc).
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and continuous development (CI/CD) by promoting DevOps principals and practices leading to faster innovation and improved time to market.
- Keep close to the technology market and be aware of changes and direction of travel of the industry, to support ANS’ in keeping ahead.
- Understand the impact of technical decisions on both projects and departmental practices and take responsibility for your decision
- Be confident enough to admit when you don't know something and be passionate about finding solutions.
- Be a good judge of criticality, prioritizing tasks and projects accordingly.
- Support the definition and adoption of best practices and standards and ensure effective governance to uphold those standards.
- Understand that "done is better than perfect" to maintain productivity and progress.
- Contribute to planning sessions in an Agile fashion using Kanban boards.
- Develop new, and mature existing product stacks and automation.
- Help create / update supporting documentation for new and existing products.
- Creation of automation pipelines for use by delivery teams.
- Automate, automate and automate wherever possible to drive efficiencies, minimise human error and manual input.
- Ensure security risks are considered, identified, reduced, and mitigated when designing, developing, testing, and implementing new products & services.
What will I bring to the role?
- Experince in a DevOps engineering role and able to demonstrate capability to deliver high quality, automation pipelines, scripting, inrastructure as code – even when under pressure
- Demonstrable experience in using DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, AWS CodeDeploy, Jenkins, Ansible, etc
- Exceptional understanding of IaC techniques and tooling such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, etc.
- Demonstrable experience in using development languages such as Python, Go, JavaScript, Ruby, Shell or other languages, to build reusable tools.
- Public and or Private cloud experience, (AWS, Azure, VMware)
- Experience working with containers (Azure AKS, Amazon ECS, Kubernetes, Docker)
- General Windows or Linux administration skills, automation, and scripting experience.
- Practical knowledge of system architectures and networking.
Azure Specialism
- Previous experience working within an Azure MSP environment.
- A deep understanding of core Azure technologies Azure IaaS, Azure PaaS, Azure Networking, and other areas of the platform.
- Experience working with containers in Azure (Azure Kubernetes Service, Containers for Azure App Service)
- Experience of delivering and managing systems at scale within Azure.
What is needed to do the role?
- Any of the below certifications are desirable
- Azure DevOps Expert (Az 400)
- Terraform Associate (003)
- Docker Certified Associate (DCA)
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
