About this role

About Us 

The App Hosting team sits within the Aladdin Engineering group and are responsible for the systems and software engineering, deployment and operations of the web infrastructure and services hosted on-prem and on external cloud providers that powers Aladdin and BlackRock’s publicly accessible digital web products.  We are seeking for an upbeat and driven engineer to join us! 

 

Role & Responsibilities 

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary agile team to engineer solutions to scale and operate Azure cloud hosted web applications in collaboration with developers and stakeholder groups. 

  • Be a member of an engineering team to provide infrastructure support to troubleshoot production issues with the cloud web services, web proxy servers, partnering with other infrastructure teams. 

  • Engineer, operate and manage microservices hosted in Kubernetes clusters, including network routing. 

  • Participate in architectural design and operational readiness calls. 

  • Use and configure industry standard tools for application monitoring and troubleshooting like Grafana and Splunk to achieve resiliency and scale. 

  • Innovate by creating automation solutions to achieve efficiency and scale for the cloud platform web stack and team processes. 

 

Essential: 

  • Relevant work experience in an infrastructure role or related practical experience. 

  • A degree in a relevant subject and/or some fantastic work experience to talk about. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail. 

  • Passionate about the possibilities represented by cloud platforms and cloud native technologies. 

 

Desirable Skills (Any combination of the following): 

  • Familiarity with networking concepts and containerization (Kubernetes, Container Registry, Ingress Controllers, Load Balancers, SSL) 

  • Scripting/programming experience using Bash, Python or GoLang. 

  • Good practical knowledge of a Linux environment with basic system administration skills. 

  • Proficient understanding of web and HTTP concepts as well as expertise with web proxy servers, including Nginx and Apache. 

  • Working knowledge of automated configuration management tools, like Ansible. 

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or another cloud platform. 

  • Understanding of Agile work environments, including knowledge of GIT and CI/CD.
