Design Engineer

Our customers include civil engineering and construction contractors, asset owners, and consulting engineering firms through to small builders.
Due to continued growth, we are currently looking for a design engineer to join our engineering team in Ashton-in-Makerfield. Reporting to a Design Team Leader, you will be responsible for producing temporary works designs for excavation support, propping, formwork and falsework.
The role would suit an engineer with a few years post graduate experience with demonstratable technical experience in structures or geotechnical design and a sound understanding of temporary works. At Mabey Hire, the floor is yours to fulfil your potential and take us forward.

You will:
- Experience of designing temporary works for groundworks and/or building refurbishment propping (e.g geotechnical design of sheet pile cofferdams and/or propping and needling)
- Prepare temporary works designs for groundworks and eventually other product schemes.
- Checking designs and drawing in accordance with BS5975:2019
- Attend client meetings and carry out site visits.
- Review design briefs provided by the sales team through Launchpad and provide feedback if more information is required.
- Managing your own workload§ Contribute to continuous improvement projects as agreed by the Engineering Director.
You will have:
- A HND or degree in civil/structural engineering
- At least 3 years experience designing temporary works
- The ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment
- Experience of designing Formwork & Falsework
- Good understanding of CDM 2015
- Experience utilising AutoCAD 2D and/or REVIT
We would also love it if you have:
- Experience of designing Formwork
- Experience of checking Groundworks
- Experience working for a supplier or in a commercial environment
- Some experience working on site
