Join our Engineering Department as a Design Engineer at our site in Havant.

Are you an electro – mechanical Design Engineer looking to progress within the manufacturing industry?

We are looking for a Design Engineer for the Engineering department at Sartorius Havant. In this role, you will work as part of a project team to deliver complex electro – mechanical chromatography and filtration equipment designs for the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, primarily using Autodesk Inventor. You will ideally have experience in pressure vessel and mechanical system design and be familiar with the relevant design codes/standards although other regulated industries will be considered. Experience working with welded and machined components as part of large assemblies is preferred however experience in electrical instrumentation and control is also welcomed.

The team consists of 13 professionals, and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you.

You will be based at our manufacturing premises in Havant as part of the global BPS Engineering team with support from a team of Engineers and great opportunities to develop your skillset.

Grow with us – Your Responsibilities  

  • Developing multi piece 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using Inventor

  • Creation, maintenance and release of Engineering BOM interfacing with SAP

  • Checking of fellow engineer’s drawings

  • Supporting the development of products with an understanding of performance requirements, including all aspects of the product design criteria, product function and customer needs

  • Ensuring quality in a product's design for usability, reliability, functionality, marketability, and manufacturability

  • Supporting efforts to verify and validate new product designs

  • Undertake design activities associated with product lifecycle maintenance/management

  • Applying design to cost and design for manufacturability methods to support project managers in achievement of project objectives

  • Contributing as a team member on internal improvement projects carrying out assigned responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with other team members in all aspects of work, including observing all Health and Safety measures

What will convince us:

  • HND/Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering (or related discipline) or equivalent experience

  • Strong relevant experience in product design and development with a solid understanding of the product lifecycle

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a manufacturing environment ideally within biopharmaceutical industry though candidates from other industries will also be considered i.e..: automotive, defence, aerospace etc.

  • Mechanical/electromechanical background

  • Ability to identify, break down and solve a variety of difficult technical problems

  • Strong aptitude for hands-on engineering

  • Disciplined and well-organised in documentation (plans, requirements, drawings, design reviews)

  • Experience working with ISO requirements and other relevant guidelines and regulations

  • Experienced in using Autodesk Inventor

  • Team player with good communication skills
