We are looking for a Data Architect to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll drive customer success by designing scalable, secure data architectures and leading teams across data engineering, visualisation, analytics, and AI. You’ll help deliver data products that unlock real business value. 

At Ascent, we foster a vibrant, collaborative community. Our hybrid working model includes a mix of remote work, occasional client visits, and time at our central London office. 

Your Core Responsibilities 

  • Design scalable Azure Data Architectures aligned to customer needs 
  • Produce High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLD/LLD) for Engineers to build to 
  • Work closely with customer business and technical stakeholders  
  • Define ingestion, pipelines, data models, analytics and insights 
  • Work with peers to deliver solutions (e.g. Engineers, Analysts, Scientists and Cloud) 
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership  
  • Ensure data governance and security 
  • Monitor and optimise solution performance 
  • Maintain documentation and standards 
  • Contribute to Ascent’s data platform accelerators which expedite projects 
  • Stay current with emerging trends 
  • Participate in our internal data communities 

Your Skills 

  • Proven success as a Data Architect 
  • Expertise in one or more of the following platforms: Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Databricks, and supporting data technologies like Power BI, Microsoft Purview, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, etc.  
  • Able to consult, advise, architect and estimate project work  
  • Strong analysis, requirements gathering and data modelling 
  • Solid data platform engineering experience in notebooks, pipelines, python and SQL 
  • A good understanding of DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, GitHub and CI/CD promotion 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills 
  • Experience working with customers of various industries and size (e.g. SMC, Enterprise) 
  • Commercial Agile experience 
  • A natural curiosity and appetite for learning and continuous improvement 
  • Microsoft certifications and knowledge of AI is a plus
