The Opportunity:
Data and Reporting is a newly formed team within Escode with the mission to deliver a data strategy tailored to our business, delivering innovation and supporting business growth.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Data Engineer who will drive the successful creation of brand-new data platform in the Microsoft Azure and Fabric space.
This will provide the services and tools to extract deeper insights from big and complex data, it will help us drive data quality improvements across the business and will enable our stakeholders to adopt a data-driven approach.
You’ll support the rollout of this platform through your technical expertise, methodical approach to lean architecture and solid data governance foundations, helping NCC to deliver against its core mission-led strategic objectives. Your past experience will help guide decision-making on platform architecture, and therefore great communication skills are important for this role.
The platform will be designed to be iterative and adaptive, allowing the addition of new data sources, analytical models and data solutions with ease, ensuring that NCC stays current and leverages the latest advancements in data intelligence. Escode’s complex system landscape will require you to think of innovative solutions when it comes to our operational data and how to utilise it best within the business.
Working as part of our Global Technology Services Department (Global IT), within the Data and Reporting Team dedicated to Escode, you will closely collaborate with our group Data and Reporting team, as well as all areas of the business.
Key Accountabilities:
- Create and continuously develop Escode’s own Data Platform, ensuring its availability and performance to meet business needs.
- Build data pipelines to connect APIs, files, databases, and data streams to our Data Platform.
- Own and manage the ETL/ELT for the Data Platform end-to-end, including our dimensionally modelled semantic layer.
- Define and embed data quality measures within data pipelines.
- Ensure data integrity, monitoring, and alerting are integrated into all solutions.
- Create and manage Build and Deployment pipelines.
- Collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions and ensure successful business outcomes.
- Drive the overall design of the Data Platform not just now, but in our future state, whatever that may look like.
- Collaborate closely with the Data Engineers in our Group team sharing best practice and enabling efficient group reporting practices.
- Work in an Agile Kanban workflow to safely code, review, test, and deploy solutions using source control.
Skills:
- Extensive hands-on experience with the tools within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem (As a must: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse or Azure SQL).
- Hands on experience with dimensional modelling of operational data for analytics use cases.
- Knowledge of ETL tools and approaches.
- Experience with Python for scripting and automating data tasks.
- Knowledge of CI/CD approaches for Data Platforms using various methodologies.
- Knowledge of MS SQL Server, SSIS, Visual Studio, and SSDT projects.
- Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in computer science, data science, or a related field.
- Experience in a relevant sector is a plus.
- Hands on experience with Microsoft Fabric is a plus.
- Experience with Salesforce and/or Workday is a plus.
