Job Description:

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced Data Centre & EPC Sales Manager to drive commercial growth of our Grid Automation portfolio in the hyperscale and colocation data centre market.

This role is responsible for developing business directly with major cloud providers and colocation operators while leading sales activities through key Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partners, who serve as our primary delivery channel for large scale data center projects. The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of mission‑critical electrical infrastructure with strong commercial acumen and a proven track record in complex, multi‑stakeholder sales environments.

The position requires close collaboration with local sales teams, solution architects, product management, engineering, and service organisations to ensure coordinated market engagement and successful opportunity development across regions. This is a strategic, high‑impact role in one of the fastest‑growing global infrastructure segments.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Lead the full sales cycle and early-stage positioning of Grid Automation solutions for hyperscale and colocation data center projects.

  • Develop and execute growth strategies across protection, control, automation, and digital substation portfolios.

  • Build and manage strong EPC partner networks, ensuring alignment through FEED, design, and tender phases.

  • Drive the technical specification of Grid Automation technologies in EPC design packages and influence customer requirements.

  • Deliver technical workshops, design reviews, and commercial alignment to support EPCs and customers.

  • Build trusted relationships with hyperscalers and colocation operators, understanding their electrical philosophies and expansion plans.

  • Collaborate with global and regional sales teams, solution architects, engineering, and product management to create strong value propositions and proposals.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and data centre electrification challenges, and provide structured feedback to leadership.

Background:

  • Strong experience working with grid automation for high‑voltage and medium‑voltage substations, including protection and control systems, substation automation, IEC 61850,
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and remote terminal unit (RTU) equipment, and large high-voltage projects for data centres, utilities, and industrial sites.

  • Solid technical background, able to confidently discuss protection schemes, substation network designs, IEC 61850 engineering, SCADA integration, cybersecurity needs, grid‑code requirements, and the fundamentals of power‑system behaviour.

  • Commercial experience selling protection, automation, and SCADA systems, taking part in large EPC tenders, influencing early design stages, understanding project documentation, managing long sales cycles, and negotiating both technical and commercial points.

  • Strong understanding of the wider ecosystem, including utilities, transmission operators, global EPC firms, data‑centre developers, consultants, system integrators, and HV equipment manufacturers — and how these groups make decisions.

  • Relevant academic background in electrical or power engineering, with useful additional training in IEC 61850, cybersecurity, digital substations, telecom solutions, and modern digital‑grid technologies.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, able to work with senior stakeholders and technical teams, explain complex topics clearly, lead cross‑functional groups, influence early design work, and handle demanding tender environments.
