Department OverviewThis is a crucial role within the Airwave Security team; ensuring security is fit for purpose and is delivered through empowered, knowledgeable experts within the team. The team is responsible for the effective design, implementation, operation and control of security systems and processes to protect our business.
Job Description
This is mainly a remote role with adhoc travel to our Rugby / UK offices as expected.
As a Cybersecurity Solutions Specialist, you will play a critical role within the security team to configure and optimise security tooling such as SIEM, Vulnerability Management, Identity Management and Extended Detection and Response. This is primarily a hands on technical role involved in security programme initiatives. Secondly, you will be working with project/programme managers to advise and guide on security solutions, controls and risk mitigations.
You will also work with technical teams (IT/Infrastructure) to ensure that hardening standards are adhered to and to ensure integration of security tooling.
Your expertise in security-by-design (SbD), process development, and cloud computing security best practices will guide and enhance our security posture.
Your communication skills will ensure effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners. With your hands-on experience in automation, SIEM (particularly Splunk), and extended detection and response (preferably Palo Alto Cortex XDR), you will drive our capabilities in detecting, analyzing, and responding to security incidents. Your understanding of security compliance and industry standards will be vital in maintaining and improving our compliance posture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute towards the technical designs of security solutions.
- Apply risk management frameworks to identify, articulate, and present risks, ensuring that all technical solutions align with security best practices.
- Develop and refine processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the security team's operations.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, providing expert security advice, and consulting on various projects.
- Design cloud security architectures and articulate best practices for securing cloud-based environments.
- Automate security-related tasks and manipulate data to streamline security operations.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Splunk to manage and optimize SIEM capabilities.
- Utilize extended detection and response tools, with a preference for Cortex, to proactively identify and mitigate threats.
- Ensure compliance with security standards such as NIST, CIS controls, and GDPR, applying these frameworks within our IT environment.
- Onboard logs from new technologies into the SIEM using best practices such as CIS Benchmarks.
- Represent security and liaise with IT/infrastructure owners to achieve integration of technology with the SOC tooling.
- Continuously review and enhance the SbD process alongside the Cybersecurity Architecture Lead.
- Work with customers to support their security accreditation process.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Experience demonstrating equivalent skills is acceptable.
- Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or evidence based equivalent skill set.
- Proven experience in threat modelling, risk management, and security-by-design. Experience with cloud security, compliance standards, and security frameworks.
- Strong proficiency in automation and data manipulation technologies. Deep working knowledge of SIEM systems, particularly Splunk.
- Experience with extended detection and response (XDR) technologies, preferably Cortex XDR.
- Ability to communicate complex security concepts to a diverse audience effectively. Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills.
