As an Underwriting Analyst in Credit Trading – Private Credit Financing residing in London, you will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, supporting the Underwriting team. You’ll collaborate with senior analysts to assess risks, perform in-depth credit analysis, and develop valuation recommendations across a wide variety of industries. This role offers you the opportunity to grow your credit skills across a variety of sectors and make a meaningful impact.
As an Underwriting Analyst in Credit Trading – Private Credit within the Corporate & Investment Bank Credit Trading & Financing organization, you will evaluate middle market credit opportunities, perform detailed credit analysis of portfolio loan investments, and develop mark recommendations for new loan originations. You will conduct financial analysis, modeling, credit underwriting, and transaction documentation, while actively monitoring the portfolio through ongoing assessment of sector trends and quarterly financial performance. As part of a collaborative team, you will focus on delivering value and supporting corporate client borrowing needs.

Job responsibilities

  • Perform credit analysis of portfolio loan investments, identifying business risks and mitigants. 
  • Develop draft mark recommendations for new loans by analyzing the underlying business, credit structure, loan spread, and relevant information.
  • Work on new client opportunities and partner closely with Structuring where required.
  • Monitor the portfolio through ongoing review of sector trends and quarterly financials.
  • Supporting the overall financing platform across various initiatives and projects.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Entrepreneurial work ethic—self-starter, intellectually curious, and eager to learn.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, Accounting, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with GAAP accounting, financial reporting analysis, and financial modeling/Excel.
  • Superior time management and multi-tasking skills to juggle live transactions and daily tasks while maintaining focus on client needs.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in a credit role or analyzing equity/credit investments.
  • Experience in Banking, Capital Markets, or Investment Management.
  • Master’s degree in finance or CFA.
  • Coding/automation skills a bonus.

This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
