This role is responsible for accurately validating, analyzing, and auditing accounting/operational transactions and activity in business areas including, Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable - Resale, Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable - Not for Resale, Retail/DC Ops, Non-Store Cash & Org Charges E-comm and Lease Administration.
The position is responsible for providing direction and assistance to associates and management in all daily activities in accordance with established company guidelines. Compiles and provides support for daily organization of accounting functions to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data, assist in analyzing financial information, and maintain record of liabilities, profit and loss.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Organize, audit, and monitor work product.
  • Establish schedules and methods for various accounting services and financial systems.
  • Ensure compliance with established policy and procedures.
  • Review and recommend process improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities, recommend improvements and modifications.
  • Prepare journal entries and general ledger operations. Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts.
  • Perform reconciliations for balance sheet and profit and loss accounts.
  • Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; analyzes accrual accounts to ensure proper accruals. Maintain correct general ledger balances for assigned accounts.
  • Assist with monthly closing and preparation of monthly financial statements. Support quarterly and year-end closings and preparation for annual audit.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, updates, and strategic plans for assigned areas.
  • Conduct research, perform analysis and prepare financial reports as requested.
  • Assist on projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or 2-3 years of high-volume Accounts Receivable or Accounting experience in a fast-paced shared services dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting theories, methodologies, principles and practices, and the impact of departmental transactions to the financial statements
  • Knowledge of credit and collections techniques, revenue recognition rules, and general accounting requirements
  • Experience with account analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Experience with or ability to use query tools for reporting
  • Accurate and detail-oriented with excellent follow through skills
  • Solid oral and written communication skills; able to confidently and effectively communicate with both internal and external business partners
  • Vendor relations experience
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Ability to sustain high level of confidentiality
  • Solid customer service skills
  • Solid organizational skills, ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point, experience with complex spreadsheets, including lookups, pivot tables, etc.
  • SAP S4/Hanna experience
