Commercial Expansion & Partnering Analyst

Europe - Remote

This role could be located at Illumina European Hubs including, France, Italy, Spain and Netherlands.

Position summary:

This Commercial Expansion & Partnering Analyst position will be responsible for supporting Illumina’s European commercial partnerships strategy through generation of specialist insights to enable revenue growth for Illumina’s next generation sequencing and array portfolio in reproductive health, oncology, infectious & genetic disease testing and applied markets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall objective:

Reporting to the Head of EU Commercial Expansion & Partnering within the EU Strategic Growth team, the role holder will collaborate with Illumina Commercial & Partnering functions to assist analysis of partnering and commercial opportunity as well as workup of financial models to support partnering strategy in Europe. The role holder will be expected to support members of the Strategic Growth function with credible data & market analytics, contributing to the development of regional commercial strategy.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to European commercial strategy development by providing specialist insight to enhance regional product commercialization & strategy development. This includes providing market insights to identify potential partners in region (e.g., sector trends, market size, individual opportunity size), collaborating closely with the Strategic Growth team and required functions to inform a credible partnering strategy, and to identify any potential blockers.
  • Participate in business improvement activities; take part in problem solving or ‘deep dive’ activities.
  • Assist generation of business cases for partnership activities, or for generation and testing of commercial strategies in areas of Illumina focus. Apply specialist professional knowledge to provide business solutions in creative & effective ways.
  • Support diligence activities on identified partnering opportunities, to ensure opportunity is maximized and risks mitigated.
  • Together with the Head of Commercial Expansion & Partnering and Strategic Growth team, contribute to rollout of large global partnering programs. Act as “voice of Europe” in global partnering discussions. Coordinate delivery of identified partnerships by creation of working teams comprising all required stakeholders. Support partnership workup from initial contact & assessment, through to rollout & management.
  • Support the development of internal Dashboards or similar internal business tools used to summarize and provide visibility of possible partnership opportunities to the European Leadership Team.
  • Provide general business support to Head of Commercial Expansion & Partnering and to Strategic Growth Clinical Sector Leads.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

This individual will interact internally with multiple functions including the Strategic Growth team as well as colleagues from cross-functions such as Commercial, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Regulatory, Medical & Clinical Affairs, Corporate Strategy & Business Development.  External relationships will include laboratory customers, key opinion leaders, trade associations and potential third-party partner companies.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • BSc in scientific discipline, with clear evidence of skills in line with position requirements OR BSc in business-related discipline (e.g., finance, economics, business studies) is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with oversight experience in both internal and external projects are desirable. Demonstrated multitasking and time management skills are essential.
  • Demonstratable capabilities in basic financial analysis and business analytics.
  • Collaborative and flexible “can do” attitude, with ability to support diverse requests for business support.

ROLE LOCATION & TRAVEL:

  • This role is remote based, with occasional requirements for travel, including visits to Illumina European headquarters in the Cambridge area.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required up to 20% of your time.
