About the role.

We are looking to hire Category Manager, Direct Materials To strengthen our GB Procurement and Supply Chain function, and to further support our businesses during times of growth and change, the focus is sourcing for our direct raw materials and packaging across the GB region.
Reporting into the Director, GB Procurement, this position is part of the broader procurement team for the Central Europe & Great Britain region and the broader McCain Global Procurement organization. This role will involve core procurement activities across edible oils, diary, batters and coatings plus packaging. The qualified individual will play a key role in the procurement team, participating in the implementation of the organisational road map, identifying saving opportunities, managing projects, and enabling us to increase the maturity level of the GB Procurement function.
Key Accountabilities• Partners and works with all McCain GB plants in the day-to-day operations, aiming to develop a consistently high performing, cost competitive, consistent and reliable raw material supply base.• Identifies, drives, and delivers opportunities on sustainable cost advantage, to support annual procurement and business targets and protect profit margins.• Implements a strong and sustainable commodity strategy to ensure long-term cost and cash performance.• Is responsible for managing relationships with existing and developing new ones, with key raw material suppliers in the region. • Ensures market intel sharing with key stakeholders and internal business partners. • Delivers key targets of procurement organization on cost, cash, cost avoidance. • Project management, as needed, when it comes to new material qualifications, cost saving initiatives, implementation of new supply chains and introducing new suppliers to McCain
Strategy implementation:
• Implement the existing commodities & materials strategy across the direct materials category.• Work with both the GB and CE Procurement Directors, and their teams, to refine the existing strategy and then execute it in ways that supports current business and its future growth. • Own and report on the category's procurement functional performance metrics.
Relationship Management
• Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and leadership team across the business. • Deliver outstanding service to key stakeholders with a view to becoming the regional subject matter expert for direct materials.

About You:
• Experienced in Food Procurement/Direct Materials • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written• Ability to work in a team environment and be equally comfortable working independently. • A positive attitude even in intense situations with tight deadlines. This does not mean this is common practice within the business.• Superb organizational skills, thinking ahead on tasks to anticipate future needs and/or potential challenges that may arise, with ability to prioritize.• Ability to problem solve, exercising sound administrative judgement with a sense of urgency and in absence of supervision.• Strong knowledge of Windows and the Microsoft Office suite of products and be willing to, and be adept at, learning new software programs like SAP, Coupa (Procurement Platform), Sedex (Sustainability Platform), PowerBi (Analytics Tool) & others• An adaptable and collaborative style respecting the needs and contributions of others. • Analytical skills, results oriented, stress resistant and flexible.
Where will I Work?
Being in the office every single day is a thing of the past. Here at McCain, we champion hybrid working. This means we don't have a set expectation of exactly when you need to be in the office - however we do encourage our full-time, office-based people to connect in person with others for around half of their working time as that's the best way for us to build and maintain our connections. Our head office (Customer Experience Centre) is on the outskirts of Scarborough - 1.5 hours away from Leeds City Centre, and about an hour from York. We have lots of colleagues who travel to and from our Experience Centre (even if it is just for a good coffee!) and because hybrid really does mean hybrid at McCain, they get the opportunity to collaborate with their colleagues when they're in the office, and balance that with working from home to ensure they get a good life-work balance.
