Key Responsibilities:Design Integration Solutions:

  • Analyse Requirements. Work with stakeholders at early stages of project definition and delivery to ensure that integration requirements are comprehensively defined; that the integration implications of business requirements are understood by projects teams; and that the business implications of integration requirements are also understood.
  • Define Integration Solution Architectures. Define an effective integration solution concept across a full scope of project interfaces and requirements which avoids unnecessary complexity, makes best use of available platform capabilities, and provides good value for money.
  • Align Solutions to Group Integration Strategy. Ensure integration designs meet the strategic requirements of the Belron Group IT integration capability, through regular interaction with the IT Integration Centre for Enablement (workshops, design reviews etc.).
  • Use Best Practices. Use knowledge, experience, research and collaboration to ensure that appropriate principles, policies and standards are consistently chosen and defined, that effective patterns are adopted, and common pitfalls are avoided.
  • Produce Detailed Solution Designs. Elaborate all aspects of an integration solution architecture to remove ambiguity and risk.
  • Define Supporting Infrastructure Solutions. Ensure that effective use is made of available infrastructure capabilities, such as load balancers, firewalls, DNS, IaaS cloud, and PaaS cloud within solution designs.
  • Effective Data Management. Integration is the movement of data. Solutions must fully exploit best practices when accessing, structuring, manipulating, providing and storing data.
  • Meet Non-Functional Requirements. The Integration Designer is accountable for ensuring that solutions are secure, perform well, are maintainable, and meet a host of other important non-functional requirements.

Provide Technical Leadership & Expertise:

  • Provide Deep Technical Expertise. The Integration Designer must be confident in their subject matter, and able to draw on a wealth of experience to ensure the correct technical decisions are made, and guide and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Third Parties to ensure Design Best-Practices are Followed.  For many of the larger initiatives at Belron, the individual will work with SIs in a governance/sign-off role, ensuring the designs and specifications they deliver meet our requirements and standards.
  • Collaborate with Developers to Achieve Optimum Implementation. Explain designs clearly so that developers understand the nuances of the implementation required, and also take feedback from developers and collaboratively make effective implementation decisions that incorporate best practices of design and implementation. Provide leadership to developers on the pitfalls and best practices to either avoid or adopt respectively when implementing designs.
  • Define Solutions for Engineering Best Practices. Draw on experience in delivering integration projects to support lead developers in defining effective approaches for the use of continuous integration, infrastructure automation, continuous delivery, test automation and other engineering best practices.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in integration architecture, design and implementation 
  • Demonstrable traits of thought leadership during internal and external engagements
  • Experienced in working in a global or regional delivery model
  • Experience with end-to-end implementation of integrations using MuleSoft
  • Demonstrable understanding of the MuleSoft layered approach to API delivery
  • Highly articulate with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Responsible for providing subject matter expertise during the entire project lifecycle
  • Deep understanding of integration architecture

Basic Skills:

  • Excellent ability to convince multiple stakeholders - internal and external
  • Good presentation skills
  • Experience throughout the software development life cycle
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Ability to interface directly across multiple workstreams
  • Strong, effective communication with all levels of management and team members;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Principles, Policies and Patterns
    • API design-first methodology
    • Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
    • Messaging
    • EAI Patterns
    • ETL, ELT

    • API Management
    • Microservices
    • PKI Security
    • Authentication schemes (oAuth, SAML)
    • Data definition (SQL, XSD, XML, JSON)
    • Data manipulation (XSLT, XPath, XQuery)
    • Service definition (WSDL, SOAP, Swagger / OpenAPI Specification, RAML)
  • A background with prior strong development skills in one or more of the following:
    • Any mainstream development language
    • Distributed solution architectures
    • MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, CloudHub, API Gateway
    • Globalscape MFT, ARCUS
    • Informatica IICS
    • RDBMS Database platforms
