As a Backend Kotlin Developer at Kody, you will develop and maintain various software components of their financial services platform, debug system issues, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on software improvement. You should be knowledgeable in Kotlin, Java, cloud development, and agile methodologies.
Kody, a fast-growing Fintech specialising in bringing online payments and better financial services to brick and mortar businesses, is seeking an experienced backend Kotlin Developer to join their dynamic team.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and maintain various software components of Kody's platform, from the mobile point of sale, payment terminal card readers, ecommerce payment gateway, and many other products in the financial services. It requires a deep expertise in Kotlin and Java and familiarity with cloud development using containerisation frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, be a team player, and be proactive in their approach to achieving company goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software components of Kody's platform
- Debug and troubleshoot system issues and provide support as necessary
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the team's development process
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement in software development processes
- Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the Kotlin/Java development space
- At least 5 years of experience in backend Kotlin/Java software development
- Familiarity with SQL databases such as Postgres (ideally) or MySQL
- Good understanding of APIs: REST or gRPC (this one ideally since we moved all of our services to gRPC)
- Strong familiarity with Git version control (we use GitHub)
- Experience with cloud computing and deployment with CI/CD (we use GitHub Actions)
- Experience working with unit testing frameworks
- Knowledge of agile development practices and methodologies
