Role Purpose
This role will support our global Finance team in maintaining accurate accounting records and ensuring timely processing of financial transactions. The Assistant Financial Accountant will assist with month-end activities, including journals and reconciliations, process bank transactions and customer receipts, support invoicing and accounts receivable activities, and provide general accounting support to ensure financial information is accurate and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Financial Reporting Manager with the month-end close process, including preparation of standard journals and supporting schedules for review, in line with agreed timetables and Group reporting requirements.
- Perform monthly Group intercompany reconciliations, ensuring all intercompany invoices are accurately posted and differences investigated promptly.
- Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances in a timely manner.
- Upload and process bank statements, ensuring all customer receipts (cash and bank transfers) are accurately posted to the correct accounts.
- Ensure the timely and accurate raising of internal and external invoices, including both automated and manual billing.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g. Commercial teams) to ensure invoicing requirements are understood and met.
- Prepare and issue customer account statements as required.
- Prepare and submit weekly bank reporting through the banking platform, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to agreed deadlines.
- Review, process, and post employee expense claims in accordance with company policy.
- Supporting the Indirect Tax Manager for any VAT Compliance work.
Qualifications
- Accounting qualification (fully qualified AAT, part qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA, or relevant degree).
- Experience in general accounting, including month end closing.
- Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and financial controls.
- Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Logical thinking and meticulous attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and able to prioritise multiple activities.
- A good working knowledge of SAP is desirable.
- Some Automotive industry and/or Manufacturing experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
