About the Role:

  • This Project Manager role plays a pivotal part in overseeing and ensuring the successful execution of complex client, partner and strategic projects critical to revenue growth and organisational success.
  • Act as a leader fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. Providing mentorship and guidance to agile project teams ensuring accountability and fostering a culture of high performance.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and communicate comprehensive project plans, including detailed work breakdown structures, timelines and milestones, resource allocation, margin and budget tracking. Collaborate with executive stakeholders to define project goals, deliverables, scope, and strategic alignment. Manage the whole lifecycle of a project, reporting on progress and managing risks and issues, escalating where necessary to the project board and contributing to stakeholder updates where necessary.
  • Timings and Project Plans: Define realistic project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organise and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports – reporting on key performance indicators; proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, implementing effective mitigation strategies, correcting any deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively, manage, track and reconcile project budgets, track expenses to ensure projects are delivered within budgetary constraints. Report on project performance and resource allocation and capacity to the management team.
  • Operational Excellence: Define and manage a well-defined project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Project Management, methodologies, and standards across the organisation. Identify opportunities for process improvement and streamline workflows to enhance operational efficiency. Identify and implement usage of agile tools to enhance efficiency and quality. 

Experience:

  • Ability to influence and motivate teams and influence executive management. Including exceptional communication skills and being a logical, confident ‘voice’
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen and the ability to translate that into scoping & resource planning.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
  • Ability to manage a wide range of projects with a focus on quality, budgets and timings
  • Demonstrable experience in using project management tools such as Jira and Smartsheet to deliver medium to large projects on time
  • Experience working with distributed teams advantageous
  • A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies including 4+ years of experience as a Project Manager managing large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams.
  • Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects.
  • PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience overseeing multi-function project teams with at least 10 team members including Developers, Data and Infrastructure Engineers, Data Scientists and Product Managers.
  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues.
