We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer (contract) to drive the evolution and scalability of a large-scale debit card platform within Consumer Financial Services. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical, high-availability systems that support significant transaction volume and customer impact.
The role requires strong backend and frontend expertise across Java, NodeJS, ReactJS and Oracle, and involves building reliable APIs and services that enable core debit card functionality. This is a 6+ month engagement on a high-visibility client team focused on performance, reliability, and scalable design.
Responsibilities- Design and implement scalable backend services for the debit card platform using Java and NodeJS
- Develop and maintain frontend features and user interfaces with ReactJS
- Build, document, and maintain RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints as needed
- Write high-quality, testable code and contribute to unit, integration, and non-functional testing
- Participate in architecture and design discussions to improve system scalability and availability
- Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to deliver features on schedule
- Troubleshoot and support production systems as part of an on-call/rotation model
- Optimize SQL queries and data access patterns against Oracle databases
- 7+ years of hands-on software development experience
- Strong backend development experience in Java
- Strong experience with NodeJS
- Solid frontend experience with ReactJS
- Strong SQL skills; Oracle experience preferred
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Experience working in distributed, scalable production environments
- Proven experience working on large-scale, high-availability systems
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments with strong communication skills
- Experience with GraphQL
- Experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka
- Prior experience in financial services or other high-availability transaction systems
- Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
