Summary Generated by Built In

The energy industry is undergoing the largest transformation since industrialisation at an unprecedented rate of change and we are positioning ourselves to be at the heart of that change.

Our aim is to be the leading global provider of solutions that enable customers to release £30bn of value per annum from distributed energy resources (DERs). We are building a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription business with a global addressable market of £2.4 billion per annum, by digitally connecting hundreds of thousands of DERs with energy markets.

We have already attained a market leading position and KrakenFlex is a recognised thought leader and innovator in the industry. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed and we are pleased to announce that we now have the full support and backing of Octopus Energy, an award-winning UK energy supplier who share our passion and values.

You’ll lead one of our original and ever evolving KrakenFlex product groups - Infrastructure Flex (InfraFlex), a SaaS platform to connect and control distributed energy resources. We're very excited to be growing our team. We're looking for skills and experience to help shape and define the future of not only our team, but the wider business at a global scale. There are huge challenges to tackle, and we need amazing people who are keen to get stuck in.

What you'll do

  • You’ll lead one of our original and ever evolving Kraken Flex product groups - Infrastructure Flex (InfraFlex), a SaaS platform to connect and control distributed energy resources.
  • Lead a great team of product managers who are responsible for defined themes within the KrakenFlex InfraFlex product, building and growing their capability.
  • Be a role model, creating a positive product culture, including developing processes/ systems for improved product management.
  • Keep pushing the boundaries of the vision of InfraFlex, looking into the future and anticipating the needs of our clients before they ask
  • Work with tech, operations, our internal and external clients and others to identify new features that need to be built, enhanced or fixed. You’ll spot problems, take ownership and see them through to resolution.
  • Create, manage and communicate the rolling roadmap to be used as a guiding tool for both stakeholders and developers alike
  • Create high levels of communication between the InfraFlex and stakeholders teams, working closely with senior leadership on both sides to properly understand challenges in order to prioritise work.
  • Define and track key product metrics, analyse performance data, and derive actionable insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Be an educator, coach, mentor and evangelist for product management across the wider organisation. Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies. Conduct market research, gather customer insights, and analyse data to identify new opportunities and enhance existing products.

What you'll need

  • Proven experience in a product leadership role within a product-led company, with a track record of successfully developing and launching innovative, user-centred products.
  • Strong strategic thinking and vision-setting abilities, with the capability to align product strategy with business goals and market dynamics
  • Deep understanding of Product Management methodologies, agile development practices and user-centred design principles.
  • To be able to work in an ambiguous, dynamic environment. Experience in a fast-paced start-up or scale-up would be a plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and influence decision-making at all levels of the organisation
  • To be curious and a great listener - fantastic ideas come from everywhere in Kraken Technologies, so you’ll need to be able to spot and harness them.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact with people with varying levels of technical knowledge. Working proficiency in European languages is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry, whether that’s in the UK or globally. Experience working in energy trading or asset management environments is also a plus for this role.

Why else you'll love it here

  • Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. The reason why we don't advertise is because we honestly have a degree of flexibility and would never want salary to be a reason why someone doesn't apply to Octopus - what's more important to us is finding the right octofit!
  • Octopus Energy is a unique culture. An organisation where people learn, decide, and build quicker. Where people work with autonomy, alongside a wide range of amazing co-owners, on projects that break new ground. We want your hard work to be rewarded with perks you actually care about! • Visit our perks hub - Octopus Employee Benefits

Ideally you will be based in the Greater Manchester and happy to come into the office a couple of days per week! But we appreciate that things have changed and flexibility is at the top of everyone's agenda, so if you would rather be remote please let us know.

If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you.

Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we hire. Across Octopus, we're looking for genuinely decent people who are honest and empathetic. Our people are our strongest asset and the unique skills and perspectives people bring to the team are the driving force of our success.
