The Opportunity

We are looking for a Pricing or Portfolio Analyst on a fixed term basis to join our Pricing & Data Science team with a specific focus on helping to deliver profitable growth across our SME portfolio. Our SME portfolio consists of packaged products such as Commercial Combined, Tradesman and Professional Indemnity as well as Motor Fleet and Minibus. In this role, you’ll play a key part in analysing and optimising our e-traded SME insurance products, ensuring they deliver against business objectives. Working with colleagues across the business to uncover insights, you’ll identify opportunities and risks, and implement solutions that enhance our SME portfolio. This is a collaborative position where your analytical skills, insurance expertise, and ability to communicate complex findings will help shape the future of our products and support QBE’s commitment to excellence and regulatory compliance.

With great benefits and the chance to work within a diverse and inclusive company where your unique perspectives and contributions are valued.

Your new role:

  • Analyse the performance of our e-traded SME products to ensure alignment with business objectives and strategic plans.
  • Conduct detailed segmental analysis to identify key performance drivers, uncover opportunities for growth, and highlight potential risks within each product.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business to gather data, agree on analytical approaches, communicate findings, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with the e-trade development team to implement agreed solutions and drive product improvements.
  • Utilise advanced data manipulation tools to generate new insights into the SME portfolio, sharing findings through dashboards and ad-hoc reports to inform decision-making.
  • Engage with external partners to review and discuss account performance, fostering strong professional relationships.
  • Ensure full compliance with QBE’s standards, processes, and policies, and uphold relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

About you:

  • Demonstrated experience in analysing and interpreting large, complex datasets to inform business decisions.
  • Experience working in the insurance sector, ideally with exposure to Motor SME products and an understanding of commercial lines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels, both directly and indirectly.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the capability to create insightful reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively with colleagues from diverse business areas to achieve shared objectives.
  • Underwriting experience and familiarity with e-trade environments are advantageous, as is working knowledge of analytical tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, or Visual Basic.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK as visa sponsorship is not available for this role
